As football fans salivate in anticipation of the upcoming Manchester
derby, they may be robbed of a particularly tasty morsel as Sergio
Aguero looks set to miss the tantalising clash. The striker has been
slapped with a violent conduct charge by the FA after cameras caught him
elbowing Winston Reid in Manchester City's 3-1 win over West Ham.
It means Aguero is facing a three-match ban which will keep him out of the first derby under Pep Guardiola at Old Trafford on September 10th.
The 28-year-old, who has scored six goals already this season, has until 6pm on Wednesday to respond to the charge.
Aguero will also be out for a Premier League clash against Bournemouth and an EFL Cup trip to Swansea
If the striker is found guilty and subsequently banned, City manager,
Pep Guardiola will be left with Kelechi Iheanacho as his only recognised
striker.
